One of our costumers, Thomas Edwards, is a hacker extraordinaire, has been been working on augmented reality using ARToolkit.  Check out his super-creative way of using our EL Panels in his augmented-reality project.  Thank you for the link, Thomas!

If the video doesn't work here, you can check out his blog at his Tech Art Blog

The first pictures from Burning Man of our wild friends using our EL tapes are coming down the pipes.  The first pictures are by Keith "Felix" Krieser, showing us his way of styling it with his humongous faux fur EL Tape lined hooded cat coat.  He used two strips of purple EL Tape to line the inside of the hood, lighting his face in a deep purple glow while in the dark, and complemented it with the super-attractive friend and standard-issue flame-throwing vehicle.  Can't really go wrong with any of that!  Except that perhaps faux-fur should probably not be so close to mega-balls of fire.  But it's Burning Man after all...

We are back from the Burning Man Art Festival, where we had the honor of sponsoring several of the art installations.  Pre-Burning Man, we also had the honor of supporting many artists by providing our products at huge discounts.  We were delighted to see EL panels and tapes being used on Art Cars, Clothing, and Habitats.  Thank you Burners, for giving us the opportunity to help you with your art!  The objective of EL Works is and has always been to support the arts with these extraordinary lighting products, and we are delighted to be able to fulfill our mission.  Artists, please remember that if you are working on an installation and need our products, contact us directly to discuss sponsorship options with us!  We will be posting pictures of EL Panels and Tapes being used at Burning Man as soon as we can.  If you have any pictures you would like to share, please send them to us!

Special thanks to Karoline at The Burn List for putting us in touch with these amazing people!

Ever wonder how do EL panels and tape work?  Although we could repeat all the information here, talkingelectronics.com has come up with a really neat page that describes the process.  Credit goes where credit is due.  Here is the link!

Our search for EL batteries (namely, 12V LiPo batteries) is proceeding smoothly.  We are interviewing a bunch of manufacturers and testing their products in order to settle on a product that we can be confident will provide you with your power needs.  We'll keep posting on our progress!

Hello, thanks to you, our company is growing rapidly!

And we thought we'd keep you updated on our new products with this blog.

We have received many complaints that our El Products are powered by 12V inverters, and people would like to see 9V inverters in order to make the products more portable.  We have been looking into this aspect, and have found that 9V inverters usually result in lower brightness and shorter lifespan for the EL product.   So what is the point?  Don't we all want our EL Tape and Panels to be as bright and long-lasting as possible?  I know I do!

Hence, we will be keeping our 12V inverters, BUT we will start stoc

king 12V Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries.  These small batteries measure only 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 inches and pack a punch!  They carry as much power in this tiny package as 8 AA batteries (that's 50% more power than a 9V battery, by the way), are FULLY RECHARGEABLE, and will last for MANY HOURS!  We tested one of these batteries on an 3/4 inch x 3 ft strip, and it lasted well over 8 hours!  That's more than enough time for a good party in an EL outfit.

So, keep you eye open for our new 12V Rechargeable LiPo Batteries and their smart chargers.
